Smarter Nurse Call Lights

Representatives from Spaulding’s Spinal Cord Injury Unit and The Travis Roy Center recently met with a company to learn more about an innovative call light system. This new system allows patients to use a modified call button to control their TV and lights, in addition to calling for a nurse. This would allow individuals with cervical level spinal cord injuries to use devices such as a sip and puff attachment, tent switch or pancake switch to access the various standard call light controls.  We are excited about the possibility of offering this technology as an alternative or adjunct to our ongoing efforts to implement voice-controlled room features, further empowering patients with greater autonomy over their environment.
